Welcome To Triplefaviary
Triple "F" Aviary is a closed indoor/outdoor aviary located just outside of Ponca City, Oklahoma. We specialize in color mutation Quakers, although we have a nice selection of Normal Green Quakers as well. It is primarily a hobbyist endeavor by Fern & Vern Gildhouse and Martha Cain, born of a love for birds, specifically Quakers, and responsible mutation breeding practices.

Image We are life-long animal servants who longed to start an aviary. Martha, our mother, has been breeding birds of different species for as long as we can remember.

We raised Cockatiels for years, and we acquired our first breeding pair of Quakers in 1998. We started breeding in our home and moved to our current location in September 2004.

In our indoor/outdoor aviary, we breed Blue, Cinnamon (AKA: Red-Eyed Cinnamon), Cinnamon Blue, Pallid (AKA: Dark-Eyed Cinnamon), Pallid Blue, Lutino (red-eyed Yellow), Dark-Eyed Yellow, and Fallow Quaker varieties. We are in the process of being the first breeder of Aqua and Aqua related Quaker mutations in the United States. In addition, we acquired our first pair of GreyGreens this winter. One day, we hope to be able to introduce the most exciting color mutation series to surface in years, the violet factor Quaker.

At Triple F Aviary, we place a high priority on individual care and attention. We believe in complete honesty regarding our aviary. So, we have attempted to produce a detailed site to describe our breeding practices and opinions.

You will find general information about Quaker care and specific details about our breeding program on the Aviary, Nursery and Diet pages. The diet section describes not only our breeding parents' diet, but also their kids' diet and our weaning practices. The Parents section provides specific information about the genetics, bloodlines, and breeding history of many of our current breeder pairs while the Kids section keeps a running tally of current availability and pricing as well as a list of references. If you'd like to get to know us and our feathered/furry family a bit better, visit the section About Us.

Image The Genetics section is a structured tutorial resource that starts with general concepts and progresses to autosomal and sex-linked inheritance patterns. Single and multiple gene inheritance are discussed as well as the use of genetic notation and Punnett squares.

Numerous genetics tables are compiled to aid in the prediction of offspring from many parental combinations of common mutations.

We owe special recognition to Scott Doak. As the owner of the former Exotic Flock Aviary, Scott prepared much of the information on this website, to include the genetics section. With Scott's permission, I have included this information.

We are always excited to share our passion, and as well as this evolving site. A few pages are still under construction, so bear with us. Please feel free to provide feedback to us via email.

Warm regards, and Happy 'Parronting'
Fern & Vern & Martha
