Our philosophy regarding breeding is quality over quantity. We will not be producing huge numbers of babies, but will guarantee that each and every one gets the personal attention that is so important to their early socialization and health. Our goal is twofold:

First, to produce healthy, well-socialized Quakers for those who are looking for a lifelong companion. For these chicks, we will be pulling at two weeks to maximize human bonding, even though it means more "labor" for us. (We don't really consider hand feeding these adorable babies labor at all.) We will only sell pets to people whom we feel have considered the responsibility of Quaker parenthood seriously. Our general rule is that no baby leaves us until we are certain that it is fully weaned. Future parents of our chicks, who would like to finish hand feeding, will be scrutinized to ensure their success as well as the health of our babies. Finally, we reserve first right to buy back any pet birds that "don't work out", if they are to be resold.

Our second goal is to propagate the enjoyment, strength and viability of the various evolving color mutation bloodlines. Our current breeders were chosen for size, health and depth of previous out-crossing of their lines. We will continue "responsible" breeding methods and never take the fast route to mass production of weaker, in-bred birds. Also, we will leave all chicks that are to become breeders in the nest box for 3 weeks so they gain full benefit (and weight gain) from parental immunoglobulins and feeding practices. No breeders will be sold until fully weaned.

We ship many birds each year without problems, even though we prefer to have future "parronts" come to our aviary to pick up their new baby. This allows us to meet in person, and it allows us to reinforce care instructions. That said, if the distance is unreasonable, we are willing to drive partway to meet and deliver your bird to you. We stand behind our birds, and we guarantee their health in writing, 100%!
